Introduction & training sessions Sem 2

A variety of training sessions are sheduled around the start of semester. Good for members. Great for new members. Don’t miss out (join the club soon if necessary).

The club typically organises several training sessions near the start of the semester. These are designed to build skills so you can get more out of your time in the club.

General information about skills training in the club is here.

These skills sessions are typically oriented towards the particular discipline (whitewater/sea kayaking/flatwater/polo) associated with the boats you’ll be using. However, the sessions are open to everyone, and you are encouraged to take part because the sessions build skills for any canoe discipline.

TRAINING SESSIONS

POOL TRAINING – the next two Tuesday evenings (26 July and 5 Aug) at 7:30 PM sharp.
These sessions are great for new members (clean water!), particularly if you are interested in canoe
polo and whitewater kayaking. The cost is $7.50 each time. Experienced members are encouraged to come along and help out. Take advantage of these sessions while they are on!

Info and updates are here.

Note that canoe polo starts on the Tuesday following these sessions, but will alternate between two locations every Tuesday evening.

BASIC SKILLS – Every Thursday 31st Jul to 28 August (meet at 6:45 AM)
These sessions use sea kayaks on the river, and cover basic paddling techniques. Later sessions include wet exits and rescue techniques (required for any sea kayak trips). The sessions are useful for river and flatwater paddling, but are oriented towards club trips.
