Interclub Polo Day – players and supporters

A day long competition between local polo playing clubs. Prizes for participants and spectators. Barbecue lunch available. Please come and support the clubs.

Springfield Centenary Canoe Club is hosting a day of canoe polo competition on the 14 Sep 2014. There are prizes going out to the winning team and runner’s up.

The brothers canoe club is sending all of their younger boys along in the morning, and the older ones for the afternoon. It will be great to see how the junior players go (UQ members were pretty impressed by the team Brothers brought to the competitions at UQ last semester).

Raffle
They are also holding a raffle on the day (noon) and the prizes are as follows:

  • 1st prize – Polo Mania Adjustable Plastic Canoe Polo Helmet + Stainless Steel Grill
Polo Mania have donated generously and given a really good deal on this item and have even agreed that the winner may choose to upgrade from the plastic to the standard plastic at their own cost. Options include upgrading to either the standard composite helmet (various sizes and several styles) for $25 or upgrading to the prepreg carbon helmet for $49. Check out their website and facebook page – pictures of the helmets they supply can be found here.

  • 2nd prize – 2 x Gold Class Movie Tickets
  • 3rd prize – Mikasa water Polo ball WD5500 – Size 5 Mens (black)

Raffle tickets will be $5 each or 3 for $10. The first drawn name will actually just get to pick their prize in case they are already happy with their helmet or just prefer the movie tickets in the advent the winner is a spectator and does not actually play Canoe Polo.

Lunch: a barbecue for lunch. LUNCH will consist of a sausage sizzle and burgers as well as some drinks. Prices yet to be determined but it will be kept to a minimum.

Come along as a player or supporter: As with all voluntary events, please come along and support it – and help out a bit too. It’s a great chance to socialise with like-minded people. So come and join a team, or just to support a team (our team even…).

Cost: UQ members will also need to pay a $10 cover fee to SCCC to cover insurance etc under the Australian canoeing “come and try” arrangements (unless you are already a member of Australian canoeing). A sausage sizzle style lunch (if you don’t have your own) at minimal cost.
