Weekly Training and Fitness sessions

All keen and able members are encouraged to come to the shed regularly during the week for about an hour of paddling. The aim is to build up your individual fitness and practice your technique. Aim to return after an hour of paddling, depending on the group.

Weekday sessions

Be on time or you may miss out.

If any sessions have finished for the semester, and/or information or times are incorrect, please email the webadmin. If you would like to know more about flatwater paddling, please contact the flatwater rep

Tuesday mornings – paddle at your own pace

Experienced paddlers and their friends paddle regularly at the times shown. Any one wanting to come along will be welcomed.

This is “paddle at your own pace“. This means that if you are slow and can’t keep up, then come along anyway. They will help you get started, then leave you to practice while they go on ahead. When you see them paddling back, turn around yourself. They will catch up and see how you are doing. Before too long you will be able to keep up. If you paddle faster that they do, you can leave them behind, but you need to pace yourself to return at the same finish time.

Meet: Club shed

  • Meeting time: 6:50 AM sharp

What is flatwater kayaking?
Basically it means taking out one of the ‘tippy’ boats (a TK1 is more stable than a K1) so you can go longer distances and at a faster pace. It is an ideal way to get fit and also encouraged if you wish to participate in races. The Wednesday group will have a greater focus on flatwater paddling.
