A social day at Currumbin practicing and learning different types of sea kayak rescues with a qualified sea kayak instructor.
A fun-filled day socialising and learning assisted and self rescues. This session is aimed at grade 1 paddlers.
Meet Club shed: 7 AM to load gear. 8:00 AM departure
Meet Currumbin Creek: 9:30 AM
Meeting address: Currumbin Creek, Winders Park, Duringan St (at the Pelican Sculptures)
On water: 10 AM
Duration: ~ 4hrs (bring some lunch)

Tides: High ~2 PM – the water should be clean and perfect.
Paddler Requirements: For beginners with little paddling experience. Paddlers should have an appropriate level of fitness, which will enable them to safely paddle the required distance for the day. Individuals must self assess their, and their equipment’s ability to participate in this level club event and should consult the trip leader if any aspect of their suitability requires clarification. Please have a doctor’s certificate that says you are fit to participate if you suffer from any serious pre- existing medical condition/s. Please make the leader aware of your physical limitations.
Hazards: Rocks, boat traffic, fatigue, drowning, land fauna, medical conditions, sunburn, capsize, dehydration, paddle related injuries, stings and bites
Communications: mobile phone
Safety Equipment: Spare Paddle, tow line, repair kit, first aid kit, spray deck, suitable craft, PFD, paddle leash, bailing device, medication, water, footwear, sun smart clothes (hat, sunglasses, long sleeved shirt).
