The Eagle design was used by the US Olympic team to win medals in the late 1980s, and went on to underlie racing designs in the 90s and into the 2000s. Brisbane City Council

The club was grateful to accept a $5220 Community Sport Clubs Grant (Nr 13/14508) from the Brisbane City Council. This is to organise, set up, and improve administrative and coaching systems within the club. It includes funds for a senior Queensland coach to restructure the club training and coaching program, support trainee coaches, and review and improve club procedures. This is part of over $2.3 million that the council has awarded this round in support of local community sport clubs in Brisbane. | 2014 |

Queensland Canoeing

The UQ pool was reopened a year after the 2011 floods. However it does not have the infrastructure for Canoe polo goals. QC again came to the club’s rescue. They have lent the club their floating polo goal. It’s now possible for UQ (and other polo playing clubs) to play in inner Brisbane on a regular basis once more. We can now start rebuilding canoe polo in the club and take advantage of an influx of enthusiastic and able new members. |

Vero (marine hull insurance)
Insurance House |
The club was impacted significantly by the January 2011 Floods. This resulted in our first major insurance claim. In our dealings with the insurer we found them to be constructive, fair, and reasonable. The marine hull insurance is the prime reason the club has bounced back strongly. We were one of the first UQ sporting clubs to have the major part of their insurance sorted out, and this put us back into action sooner. After the 2011 flood, there were many stories of people discovering their insurance companies did not perform anywhere near what they expected. We think it is important to acknowledge that our marine hull insurance was not one of these stories. Our experience was a positive one. |
