Information
TYPES OF ACCESS
Attendees of paddle sessions with more than one person must register their intention to attend in advance via the web site (registration).
- Group Sessions (run by club approved Covid safe group paddle leaders only)
The club will run group paddling sessions from the shed capped at 10 participants. Registrations for these training sessions will be taken online via the UQCC website. Participants will respond to an online self-declaration when arriving at the UQCC shed which will ask them to discuss their COVID exposure and reiterate the importance of COVID safe measures. These sessions will run for a maximum of 4 hours (or shorter) and each participant will be given a full set of equipment which will be theirs for the duration of the activities. Each participant will also be responsible for managing the safe cleaning and storage of their PPE following the session (e.g. PFD, paddle). These sessions can be booked over a week in advance. As the UQ Sport pool re-opens, Canoe polo group session training will also commence at the UQ pool. The sessions will focus on individual drills and participants will utilise the boats currently stored at the pool to ensure no cross-contamination of gear. - Individual Sessions (Solo Paddlers only)
Individuals can also paddle from the shed after they have completed and uploaded UQCC’s solo paddling waiver. They are also required to complete the online self-declaration, and the safe cleaning and storage of their equipment. On completition of their Solo paddling waiver and approval by the club, the paddler will be given access to the shed via UQ Sport. - Borrowing / Trips
Loading or unloading gear for trips or for private borrowing will following our standard procedures, but will also require borrowers to firstly register shed access times on this calendar, and secondly log all shed access for contact tracing purposes via the QR code in the shed.
Definitions
- Club covid-safe delegate: the key holder (i.e. the person who opens the shed whether for an individual paddle, group paddle or off-site paddle). They are responsible for ensuring all participants have logged on and completed the self-declaration form on arrival. They will also manage any/all COVID safety during the duration of the session
- Solo paddler: Individuals authorised to paddle from the shed by themselves. They will have completed UQCC’s solo paddling waiver and the other normal requirements to paddle on the river. They are required to complete the online self-declaration and the safe cleaning and storage of their PPE, and also schedule any paddles on the website. Small groups (pods) of solo paddlers (max 4) are allowed to paddle together, subject to sanitisation practices and social distancing as laid out in the club covid safety plan.
Event Code Convention
Paddle sessions need unique identifiers. This helps contact tracing and trip registration management. These are based on the date in the format YYMMDD (year-month-day) of the first day of the event.. They usually have letters added afterwards to differentiate sessions held on the same day. If the activity is rescheduled, the original code is used.
The event code convention is as follows –
- Group events (group paddle sessions, Trips, etc): date followed by the first letter of the discipline (eg 200112F is a flatwater activity on the 12th of January 2020).
- Solo paddler sessions: date followed by the initials of the solo paddler (first and last name) who is the club’s covid-safe delegate for that session.
- Access for Admin, Borrowing or Trip equipment packing / unpacking: Append an A, B, or T to the date.
REMEMBER!!
Solo Paddlers cannot post sessions more than 4 days in advance (so this doesn’t interfere with other group paddle session).
Session duration should include preparation, washing, disinfection, and storage of equipment. This way the next user will not overlap.
