Canoe Polo at UQ Pool Postponed
Due to huge increases in the pool hiring fees the club is no longer able to afford to hire the UQ Pool. The cost to users would be prohibitive.
We are investigating other options in order to find a way to make this workable, and will update information as this is worked out.
UQ Closed | No Club Activities
The pool and shed are still closed so there are currently no weekly activities such as canoe polo or flatwater paddles this week. UQ sites are closed until Wed 12th March 2025. Please check UQ’s Cyclone response page for updates.
Pool / Polo Continues Tonight
The pool is still open and the weather appears to be holding. Consequently the scheduled pool training / intro to polo will go ahead.
Club Shed closed for Cyclone
Access to the shed is closed for the next week due to the winds, tides and the potential for flooding.
Much of the boats and equipment are being taken to flood safe storage for this time.
We will review this on over the weekend.
Pool closed Mon 7 Oct (Public holiday)
There will not be any canoe polo this Monday night (7th October) at the UQ Pool as the pool is closed for the public holiday.
Weekly Flatwater Paddles on the River Update

The Pontoon is back with Canoe Launching Platforms
The new pontoon is in operation. There are lower kayak launching platforms on the inside of the pontoon.
When you take boats up or down the ramp, please rest and slide them over the end of the pontoon at the bottom the ramp. Sit the end in the water as you manoeuvre the boat around and onto the pontoon.
There is no need to lift boats over the ramp railing (it is awkward). If you are doing this, you are doing it wrong 🙂 . If unsure, please ask experienced members to show you.
Warning
The bottom end of the ramp moves backwards and forwards when waves pass under the pontoon (eg when boats go past).
Never stand near the end of the pontoon!
Canoe Polo Come and Try Postponed to Mon 26th due to Weather
