Additional Induction sessions

Welcome to the new members. The induction sessions are filling up.

There are two extra start of semester member inductions scheduled for Monday (2/3/26) and Thursday (5/3/26).

If you are unable to make a scheduled induction session (or if they are full), please register “Can’t make these sessions” so we know you are looking for one and can look at scheduling additional sessions.

Building works around the club shed

There are ongoing building works around the club as the rowing club undergoes major renovations. This includes –

  • Permanently blocking the thoroughfare between the shed and the river.
  • A retaining wall and footpath will be built along the side of the shed on the road side, near the water tap
  • Access to the showers/toilets are from the road-side

Blocked access?
During the week contractors will be coming and going. They will be parking trucks and cars outside the shed. If these block access to the shed or the pontoon, please call the site manager and they will move the cars. The phone number is on a sign on the construction fencing outside the shed.

Updated Constitution takes Effect

The club’s has a minor update to its constitution that has come into effect.

  1. The grievance procedures that came into affect in 2024 have now been incorporated into the constitution as one document.

  2. The membership durations have been slightly altered to suit the different times members join the club (typically the start of the year or the start of semester) and to aid membership administration.
    • Annual membership lasts from January until the end of March of the following year
    • Semester 1 membership lasts from January until the end of June
    • Semester 2 membership lasts from July until the end of March of the following year

Canoe Polo at UQ Pool Postponed

Due to huge increases in the pool hiring fees the club is no longer able to afford to hire the UQ Pool. The cost to users would be prohibitive.

We are investigating other options in order to find a way to make this workable, and will update information as this is worked out.
