Wednesday 18 Feb saw the first of the handicap dices for the year and what a revelation it was. The time keeper set off together with the sea kayaks of Karena and newcomer Kate, leaving Dominic and Tilman to idle at the start for another 10 minutes before shooting off. Some truly amazing times for the first dice after the festive season. Tilman smashed the course record, but said he is unsure if he will ever be able to beat this time. Dominic, showing excellent style, is sure to be a contender on handicap at the next dice. Kate had a go at paddling one of the TK1’s after the dice, looked comfortable, and may be the outside horse if she puts in the training to be confident in the TK. Karena, without any off season training, brought the sea kayak home in a more than respectable time, showing just how naturally strong she is as a paddler. The stage has been set for Wed. 4 March at 5:30PM with five paddlers carrying timed handicaps into the dice and we expect it to be a cracker. We encourage all paddlers to join the handicap dices, irrespective of your form or skill. Once you have a handicap it’s a level playing field for the bottle of wine prize on offer.
