The web hosting company used by the club migrated to a new data centre in May. This did not proceed according to their plan. We were not able to post to the site for a month.
Users of the website may have noticed that over the past month there were problems with the website. The site itself was down for a week or two, and once it was back up, other parts continued not to function for a while longer. Emails to uqcanoeclub.net addresses did not work for several weeks. No new posts occurred over this period.
These kinds of problems were encountered by many other customers as various news reports attest.

The problems encountered included –
* Web site down for 1-2 weeks
* Loss of specific administration tools
* Inaccessable FTP access
* Picture gallery down
* Email down
* Webmail down
* Inability to log in
* Database migration problems and incompatibilities
* Multiple configuration, permissions, and function changes that continue to disrupt the operation and performance of the site
* Inability to contact/obtain a fast/effective response from customer support
* Inability to post to the site for a month
The recovery was slow and gradual.
Several ongoing glitches remain, which hopefully will be sorted out.
