South Bank Comp

The UQ Canoe Club will be entering a team in this years South Bank competition.

To be able to play…

You must be a member of a club;
You must be affliliated with Queensland Canoeing; and
You must register by June 5.

If you are in a team entry you only pay a portion of the $200 eg. 6 players = $33.33. an Individual registration is $50.00

Competition format…

The South Bank series runs for six weeks – every second Saturday from June 12. The first three weeks will have an emphasis on taining and the following three weeks will be competition games.

There will be two divisions- Open grade and cocktail. Open is for the more experienced players. Cocktails is for the newer or less confident players. The day runs from 10am til 2pm, but we set up at 9am and pack up after 2pm so if you could lend a hand that would be greatly appreciated.

On the day…

An Open game will be played first then training followed by cocktail and open games. As metioned at training I would like to try and place a cocktail team in the event.

For UQ Sport members who are not UQ canoe club members you will need to join the canoe club-cost $40 and then pay $30 for Qld canoeing affiliation. I have the forms for QC affiliation.

To join the canoe club you go to UQ sport. Also if there are enough players for a UNI Open team I would like to enter one -if possible.

What you get…

There is a polo bat up for grabs for the most improved player. There is to be a prize for the club with the most consistant numbers and other prizes. We are attempting to have a perpetual shield (trophy) for the winning team of the comp. Oh did I mention you’ll have a lot of fun while you learn / practice your skills and improve your knowledge of the rules.

Please talk to myself if you have any concerns whatsoever. Qld canoe polo would like as many participants as possible.

For those wanting extra game time (training)…

There is Ipswich training on Thursday night at Brisbane Boys Grammar school at Ipswich- 7- 9pm cost $10 for pool and equipment;
Centenary canoe club every 2nd sunday afternoon at Forest Lake ( in the lake) cost $5 equipment hire phone Mick Kowal- 07 3818 1797; and

It has been recomended the people phone first to check it is on. I need to confirm the contact details so talk to me if you are interested.

Kind regards

Jamie
