In regard to polo the next 3 weeks (MAY 18 ,25, June 1) These nights will be mostly for the development of basic skiils members to help get them to a confident playing level for the south bank event that starts on saturday june 12 at 10 am.
As of May 25 There will be an increase of $5 for equipment hire to non UQ canoe club members. That means $10 each night if you are not a member of UQ canoe club . this has come from the committee. If you want to discuss this with them let me know.People bring there own equipment only have to pay the usual $5.
To be able to play; You must Be a member of a club . You must be affliliated with Queensland canoeing. You must register by June 5. If you are in a team entry you only pay a portion of the $200 eg. 6 players = $33.33. an Individual registration is $50.00
Comp format; South Bank series runs for six weeks – every second saturday from June 12.The first three weeks will have an emphasis on taining.The following three weeks will be competition games. There will be two divisions- Open grade and cocktail. Open is for the more experienced players. Cocktails is for the newer or less confident players.The day runs from 10am til 2pm, but we set up at 9ish and after 2pm so if you could lend a hand that would be greatly appreciated.
On the day; An Open game will be played first then training then cocktail and open games. As metioned last tuesday night I would like to try and place a cocktail team in the event. for Uq sport members who are not UQ canoe club members you will need to join the canoe club-cost $40. then pay $30 for Qld canoeing affiliation for insurance reasons. I have the forms for affiliation. canoe club membership you go to UQ sport desk …I think. Also if there are enough players for a UNI Open team I would like to enter one -if possible. WHAT YOU GET; There is a polo bat up for grabs for the most improved player.there is to be a prize for the club with the most consistant numbers. and other prizes. We are attempting to have a perpetual shield (trophy) for the winning team of the comp. Oh did I mention you’ll have al ot of fun while you learn / practice your skills and knowledge of the rules.Please talk to myself or your club management if you have any concerns whatsoever. Qld canoe polo would like as many participants as possible.
For those wanting extra game time (training) There is Ipswich training on thursday night at brisbane boys Grammar school at Ipswich- 7- 9pm cost $10 for pool and equipment. Centenary canoe club every 2nd sunday afternoon at forest Lake ( in the lake) cost $5 equipment hire phone mik kowal- 07 3818 1797. Boonah training at Hayes Park at Moogerah dam on the last sunday of each month (for winter)10am til 2 pm . It has been recomended the people phone first to check it is on.
