Stradbroke Island Easter Weekend

A three day trip across Moreton Bay from Point Halloran at Victoria Point to Amity Point on North Stradbroke island. Camp overnight and then complete a morning paddle to Dunwich, staying overnight at UQ’s Moreton Bay Research Station. Return across the bay to Point Halloran on Sunday via Coochiemudlo island.

Preliminary plan

Version: 1

We will paddle approximately 25km to Amity with strong assistance from the tide, stopping off for morning tea/ lunch at Peel Island, then travel with tidal assistance to the Amity Point campsite. After setting up our campsites we will explore Amity on foot and look out for koalas and dolphins. We will have sundowners (sunset & snacks) looking across the bay, followed by dinner at the Amity club.

On Saturday we will have an early start paddling with the tide to Dunwich to stay at UQ’s research station. In the afternoon we will explore Dunwich, the island, and/or Point Lookout, depending on time and transport. After returning to Dunwich, we will have dinner in a local club (eg Thai food), and return for evening activities at the station.

On Sunday we will cross the bay a bit before high tide (when the tide outside the station allows) over to Coochiemudlo island for coffee, before leaving for Point Halloran to return to the club shed.
