An overnight sea kayak/camping trip to Peel island in Moreton Bay.

Our trip will start off at the Cleveland Kayak Boat ramp and on the outgoing tide we will paddle on the southern approach to Horeshoe Bay (11kms). We will set camp and for those who would like to explore the Island either by foot or by kayak will be an activity for the afternoon. Our return journey will be by the Northern end of Peel back to the Cleveland Kayak Boat Ramp (arriving back around high tide. Approximately 15kms).
The wreck at Platypus bay provides an opportunity to have a look and is not far from the campsite.
Camping permits are required and can be obtained from: https://qpws.usedirect.com/qpws/. We will be camping at Horseshoe Bay campsite (Teerk Roo Ra National Park).
Please obtain a permit yourself. BUT leave it until shortly before the trip in case it is canceled due to bad weather (this trip is sensitive to bad weather).

Paddler Requirements | ✓ Conditions can be calm, but can change dramatically with winds and tides contributing significantly to this. ✓ Paddlers must advise leaders if they have health issues or injuries that may affect participation. Ensure medication is carried and is accessible. If unsure, they should check with their doctor beforehand. ✓ Participants must be familiar with, and have demonstrated, a wet exit and T-rescue (in a sea kayak) while a member of the club. ✓ Participants must self-assess their, and their equipment’s ability to cope with this grade of club event.
