This is a great day trip for those interested in sea kayaking in the bay.

- Paddle ~5km south along shore to Lota and Tingalpa creeks. Explore these creeks for 3-5 km. Return and do skills practice off the park if conditions are a bit more challenging and suitable.
- Put your in at the mouth of Lota creek (north). Paddle Lota and Tingalpa creeks.. Return and do skills practice and/or explore into the bay if conditions are a bit more challenging but suitable.
- Put your in at the mouth of Lota creek (north). Paddle Lota and Tingalpa creeks. Some or all participants continue to Breakwater park along the shore of the bay – if conditions are a bit more challenging but suitable.
We will depart from Breakwater Park in Wynnum.
This is tide dependent, and the high tide is about 11:00 AM. We will aim to leave Manly about 9 AM and go anticlockwise crossing to the south end of the island, then go around the eastern side through the mangroves, look for new coral, and stop on the sandy spit on the north west corner of the island. There is an option to paddle to the south east part of St. Helena island depending on time and the group (extra 6 km). We will spend about an hour on on the either Green or St. Helena having lunch. We may practice some skills. Beginners will have an opportunity to learn some skills. We will then return directly to Manly.

Meet: at clubhouse at 6:30 AM to pack the last of the boats and gear (see below). Depart at 7 AM.
Meet at Put in Point: 9 AM
Pre trip meet: If needed we’ll pack the trailer (if needed) on Sat afternoon at midday (after the come and try day)

Distance: about 15km (20km if the group is stronger and we go via St. Helena island).
Tides: HIGH 10:55 am (2.16 m); LOW 5:05 pm (0.19 m)
Moon: One day after the full moon (so high high tides, and low low tides, and a big tidal difference = stronger currents)

Paddle type: Sea kayaking
Put in Point: Breakwater Park on the south side of Wynnum Creek on Waterloo Esplanade. If conditions are windy with South easterly or southerly winds we will Put in / take out at Wynnum creek boat ramp on the north side of the creek (Glenora Road & Wynnum north Esplanade)
Take-out Point: Same as put in point
Alternate Route Variations: Option to stop at St. Helena after Green island. Optional take out point at Manly Harbour.
Facilities: Toilet available at St. Helena island. No water available during paddle.
Sea kayaking on Moreton Bay can be hazardous. If conditions are unfavourable we will not go. We will register with the coast guard prior to departure and be in telephone contact. If you have medical conditions, consult your doctor, let the leader know if they are relevant (eg asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, allergies, epilepsy, etc), and bring any required medication.

|Paddler Requirements||✓ Conditions can be calm, but can change dramatically with winds and tides contributing significantly to this.|
✓ Paddlers must advise leaders if they have health issues or injuries that may affect participation. Ensure medication is carried and is accessible. If unsure, they should check with their doctor beforehand.
✓ Participants must self-assess their, and their equipment’s ability to cope with this grade of club event. The club grading scale is located on the club website. This should be consulted prior to registration, and any concerns or anything needing clarification should be raised with the trip leader beforehand.
✓ Participants need the skills for the grade for the trip, unless modified below (Additional Comments).
✓ Participants should have an appropriate level of fitness. This is a trip that requires a moderate fitness level and a minimum sustained cruising speed as required by the paddle grade.

|Additional Comments/Instructions||It is not essential to have demonstrated a sea kayak T-rescue. However we prefer (if possible) that the majority of participants have done at least a wet exit at one of our pool sessions on a Tuesday night. Please inform the leaders if you have not done a wet exit, or if you aren’t sure or confident.|

Limit on numbers: Numbers will be limited by transport, the number of people with sufficient skills, and the weather. Within these constraints it will be first come first served and number will be limited.
