Equipment Borrowing Procedures

A diary booking system is used to reserve and borrow club equipment for off-campus trips. Equipment includes sea kayaks, whitewater kayaks, flatwater kayaks, canoes, or camping equipment.

To reserve and borrow equipment, you must -

• fill out the borrowing book located in the club shed
• use the full names of yourself, and members using the boats (legibly!). Include your contact details.
• email the equipment officer AND discipline representative of your intentions
• book at least one week in advance
• NOT book out equipment if an official club trip is planned for the same day/s
• NOT book out equipment if it is already booked on the same day(s) by another club member
• NOT book out equipment if there is less that one week's notice.
  In this case you can take the equipment only if it is available on the day - BUT write it down in the book and email.
• search your conscience about making a donation, particular in regard to the VSU impact :)

The camping equipment is available free for members participating in Club trips. Club members can borrow camping equipment for other trips, but a donation is encouraged.

The equipment officer will respond to any difficulties or questions you have in regard to equipment availability and procedures. You will require your own roof racks (or tow bar if you have a trailer) plus tie downs for the transport of equipment. Cradles or foam paddling is required for fibreglass kayaks. The club has a trailer of its own which may also be used in some circumstances, but this must be pre-arranged with the committee in advance.
