Sea Kayak Trips 2014

Grade 1 sea kayak trip leader training weekend to South Currigee, South Stradbroke island. Please register interest soon so places can be secured.

Wivenhoe Dam Training DaySun 16 Mar 14 ()
A one day training event at Wivenhoe dam for flatwater (TK and K1s) training. A chance to learn new skills and try new boats.

Learn to rescue someone who has come out a sea kayak (sea kayak T-rescues) at the UQ pool. Members need to have demonstrated this to come on sea kayak trips.

This will occur alongside canoe polo at the UQ pool on the evening of Tuesday 25th of March.

A second training session at the UQ pool.

Learn to rescue someone who has come out a sea kayak (sea kayak T-rescues) at the UQ pool. Members need to have demonstrated this to come on sea kayak trips.

This will occur alongside canoe polo at the UQ pool on the evening of Tuesday 1st of April.

Start from Victoria Point to Karragarra Island for lunch via the northern tip of Macleay Island then return via the western side of Macleay Island.

Club camping multi-discipline trip to Tweed Heads, NSW.

A camping trip (2 nights) to South Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay (changed from Tangalooma/Moreton Island due to ferry issues). Includes a short night paddle on the bay.
Grade: 1 - 1.5
Dates: Friday night - Sunday 4th May) - overnight Friday and Saturday nights
Accommodation: Camping

A day trip to Coochiemudlo island in Moreton Bay to learn the basic skills needed for sea kayaking.

Learn to rescue someone who has come out a sea kayak (sea kayak T-rescues) at the UQ pool. Members need to have demonstrated this to come on sea kayak trips.

This will occur alongside canoe polo at the UQ pool on the evening of Tuesday 2nd of September 2014. If you are around earlier, please come and help load sea kayaks at the shed at 7:30 PM.

A leisurely paddle from Scarborough Beach tracking along the shore down to the Redcliffe Jetty/ Harbour to view the fireworks show associated with the Redcliffe Festival. This paddle will be set against the back drop of the Redcliffe Peninsular festival lights and an almost full moon.

A two hour evening workshop covering weather and navigation for sea kayaking.

A day trip in the bay, either from Scarborough to Shorncliffe, or across to Blakesley's Anchorage in Moreton Bay.

Upper Noosa RiverSat 4 Oct 14 ()
A three day trip up the Noosa river and the Noosa Everglades - a favourite club destination.

Green Island is a coral based island, surrounded by banks and at high tide turtles and other sea life is common. It's a pleasant trip and will probably take about 4-5 hours including breaks.

A two day trip paddling down the Upper Brisbane River. Its quite nice up in these parts, but then it is where our drinking water comes from!
