An introduction to moving water and whitewater techniques. A day trip to the Brisbane valley to find out if whitewater is right for you.
This day will be conducted on a rapid along the Brisbane River with a possible short paddle afterwards depending on river levels. The water will be grade I and II. This day is designed as an introduction day, to develop on skills already learnt on flat water, but no experience level is necessary. There is going to be a possible white water trip later in the semester so this intro day is a good way to see if you might like to join us on a longer trip
- Activities will include
- Introduction to paddling technique
- Ferry gliding
- Edding in and out
- River reading
- River Safety etc
Date: Sunday 8th September
Duration: 9am to 3pm (on water)
Destination: Brisbane River – Exact location TBA possibly Fernvale or below Wivenhoe Dam
